MIRI: Several measures and initiatives to transform the local councils (PBTs) in the state will be undertaken to enhance the capacity and management capabilities, says Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government (Public Health and Housing) Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.

In disclosing this during the Miri City Council (MCC) Chinese New Year open house yesterday, he added, PBTs had been playing a crucial role in planning administration and executed the policies from the state government.

He reminded them of their role as the eyes and ears of the government.

“As deputy minister that engaged with the PBTs, I do understand your predicament, the challenges that you are facing while executing your duties….and that is why we have plans for you all via the transformation initiatives that we are going to announce soon, and this include allowance increment,” he said.

More than 200 people attended the event, which was the first open house held at the city council’s new office in Marina Bay since it was officially opened on November last year. The new office of MCC was officially opened by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
