KUCHING: Members of Sarawak Community Policing Association (SCPA) and the police conducted a joint community policing patrol at Pisang Road West, Kampong Kudei and Poh Kwong Part last Sunday afternoon.

The police team was led by ASP Norlaily of Kuching District Police headquarters while SCPA was led by Cecil Adenan, the deputy head of its Pisang Road West and Jalan Intan unit.

“During the patrol, crime prevention leaflets were distributed to the members of the public, we discussed about neighbourhood safety with those we met and emphasised on the ‘prevention is better than cure’ policy.

“It is based on SCPA’s slogan of ‘Our Community Our Responsibility’ concept.  Keeping the environment friendly and orderly will play a key role in crime reduction,” said Cecil Adenan.

A recent survey conducted by the SCPA executive committee has confirmed that joint crime prevention patrol between citizens and the police will help in crime reduction and citizen’s fear of crime. It also helps to cultivate safety and security in the community.
