SIBU: Three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have combined their efforts to undertake charity work for the Sibu Kidney Foundation (SKF) recently.
The three bodies are none other than Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan (LCSP), Lions Club of Sibu Loving Care (LCSLC) and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Mandarin Sibu.
They have jointly handed over bulks of aluminium cans, old newspapers and paper cardboard, with the proceeds from the sale of these recycled items to be channelled to SKF for the running of its operation.
Present at the handing over of the contribution of recycled items were president of LCSP Dr David Ling Sien Ngan, president of LCSLC Henry Jackson Teo and president of JCI Mandarin Sibu Boston Ho.
SKF, a non-profit organisation established in June 1993, depends largely on the support of public’s generosity for its running operation so as to provide affordable and quality dialysis treatment to kidney patients here.
Over the years, SKF has treated more than 200 dialysis patients with the public generous support and donations.
Since 2010, SKF has brought in “Haemodiafiltration” machines instead of the normal machines, in order to provide better quality dialysis to the patients.
