KUCHING: The Scouts Association of Malaysia, Sarawak Branch is organising the Matang Warrior Survival Trail Run set for July 2.
In its press statement here yesterday, the association said it was organised as a reaction to the great response to last year’s run.
Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, who is also an advisor to the Premier of Sarawak and the President of the Sarawak Scouts Council, said yesterday (Feb 8) that registration forms can be obtained from the association’s headquarters at Jalan Batu Lintang here during office hours and also from the Telegram of Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia Cawangan Sarawak.
Mawan said the run was aimed at fostering brotherhood among scouts and the public, especially sports enthusiasts to promote a healthy lifestyle.
He also urged the runners to register as early as possible.
Mawan also also pointed out that the runner can also enjoy the Matang Scout-Girl Guide Campsite strategically situated at the foot of Gunung Serapi, Matang.
According to organising committee chairman Lee Kong Shin, the run would have four categories – 1KM Kid Dash (age 12 and below), 5KM Jungle Trail (age 13 and above) and 10KM Jungle Trail (age 18 and above) and 20 KM Jungle Trail (age 18 and above).
“The 10KM and 20KM events also offer attractive prizes and all participants are entitled to T-shirts, medals and refreshments,” Lee added.
