MIRI: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is optimistic that the federal government will continue current development projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for Sarawak.

“Even if there is a reduction in development allocations to MPs (RM3.8 million to RM1.3 million), I think the federal government will continue the projects in Sarawak,” he said.

He told the press this when asked about his hope for Budget 2023 after visiting the Miri Port Authority Crew Change Terminal (MPACCT) in Piasau, yesterday (Feb 16).

On the Budget that would be presented soon, the Premier said he did not expect much..

“We certainly expect that the allocations will be increased but not much,” he said.

Asked to comment on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that Sabah, Sarawak and Pulau Pinang were marginalised in terms of budget allocations by the previous federal government, Abang Johari said he hoped that Anwar would continue to increase the allocations for the three states.
