BETONG: The Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) plans to set up more offices in the Betong Division, particularly in the Pusa, Saratok and Kabong areas.
This was revealed by Betong District Civil Defence Officer (PPAD), Lieutenant Desem Samuel.
He said setting up more offices was consistent with the aim to increase APM personnel and logistics in the division.
“Since this move requires finances from the headquarters, we are preparing and searching for government buildings that can be converted into offices.
“The APM office in Debak is complete and will begin operations on March 1. APM Pusa, Saratok, and Kabong are still in the planning stages,” he stated when approached yesterday (Feb 23).
Desem explained that the intended site for Saratok APM was the former Giatmara Centre.
“The application has been submitted and we are awaiting a decision from the government. I hope that proper consideration will be given.
“For the APM offices in Pusa and Kabong, we are still searching for appropriate locations.
“One of the difficulties is the lack of government permits but we will continue to work on them,” he stated.
Lieutenant Nur Fikry Usop was appointed PPAD after Desem transferred the responsibilities of PPAD Debak to him.
Desem hoped that the Debak APM team would continue to deliver the best service, particularly in terms of emergency call response time.
