KUCHING: The life of the Kenyah has always revolved around rice as rice structures their perception of the landscape and time; rice builds the community and lies at the core of the traditional region.
Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), in its press statement, here yesterday said the Kenyah’s way of relating to the world emerged out of this farming tradition and manifests itself in their intrinsic duty to take care of humans and nonhumans alike.
In this context, SBC will be holding a talk entitled ‘Taking Care of the Land: The Kenyah’s Duty” co-hosted by Friends of Sarawak Museum (FoSM) and SBC supported by Telang Usan Hotel, Kuching.
The talk will be held tomorrow (Feb 28) at 7.30 pm and will take place at Telang Usan Hotel, here and will be delivered by Dr Annina Aeberli from University of Bern, Switzerland.
Aeberli is a social anthropologist whose research investigates human-nature relationships among the Kenyah.
SBC said participants can attend the talk in person at Telang Usan or join via Zoom to watch the talk.
