KUCHING: Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is committed to putting Malaysia back on the global tourism map.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, noted that a good tourism industry means a robust economy for Malaysia.
He said his team will be discussing internally together with the tourism players and operators the right direction for recovery.
“I will also be holding more discussions with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, to inject additional funding for tourism promotion above and beyond the Budget 2023’s RM250 million allocation and an additional RM25 million to develop arts and cultural activities at a community level,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Upon welcoming the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year in 2025, he asserted that it is crucial Malaysia to focus on boosting tourism at this critical juncture.
He then expressed gratitude to the tourism operators, conventional media, and independent influencers for their efforts in always working with MOTAC.
“Do continue to engage with us to help boost tourism in Malaysia together,” he added.
Earlier, Tiong, who is also the Bintulu Member of Parliament (MP), flagged off participants of Larian Santai, organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysian Recreation Association, at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Square.
