KUCHING: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) held a dialogue session today with the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development.
The delegation led by its President Datuk Tan Jit Kee was received by Dr. Gluma Saban, Head of Policy and Development Division at the ministry.
In a press statement here Wednesday he said the Premier of Sarawak had earlier called upon ACCCIS to work together with the public sector in order to help Sarawak become a developed state by 2030.
“This dialogue with was part of ACCCIS’ efforts to strengthen public-private collaboration for the common good of Sarawak,” he said.
Among the issues discussed included smart farming, animal feeds using oil palm waste, edible bird nest and development of young agro- entrepreneurs.
Similarly, Dr Gluma stated that the ministry and ACCCIS would look into setting up joint working groups to explore collaboration on these areas.
He said the ministry is keen to work closely with ACCCIS and there are plenty of opportunities for the private sector in agro-commodity and food industry as Sarawak progresses to becoming a nett food exporter.
