KANOWIT: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) here conducted a humanitarian assistance disaster relief (HADR) mission to flood-affected victims in Machan area on Saturday (March 4).

A total of 148 packs of essential items were distributed to residents of five longhouses that were affected or disconnected by floods.

The five longhouses are Rh Anchoi Abit (20 packs), Rh Jonathan Gangga (30 packs), Rh Shamsusin (22 packs), Rh Gramong Tom (44 packs) and Rh Melaka (32 packs).

The special mission, from 10.55 am to 4.10 pm, was carried out by eight personnel from Kanowit fire station and Social Welfare Department (JKM) with a boat.

The distributions were made along Kanowit river as some of the roads leading to the longhouses were cut off by flood waters.

The team delivering daily necessities to longhouse residents.
