Man, 44, fined RM3k for causing mischief

KUCHING: A 44-year old man was fined RM3,000 and was sentenced to four months’ jail in default for allegedly throwing a stone at a dog  which hit a neighbour’s vehicle window.

The accused known as Rizal Mostapar pleaded guilty before Magistrate Sandy Yvette Freddy to a charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing loss or damage.

The Section carries jail term of between one and five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

According to the factsheet, the accused committed the offence around 6.10 pm at his residence in Kampung Selabat, Jalan Muara Tebas on March 2.

Based on the facts of the case, the son of the owner of a multi-purpose vehicle (MVP) witnessed the accused throwing a stone at his father’s case that was parked in front of the house.

As a result of the incident, the rear window of the MPV was damaged thus causing loss of RM200 to the victim.

The MPV owner’s son managed to detain the accused and lodged a police report for further action to be taken.

Prosecuting officer Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented by counsel.
