DEBAK: Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam has again called on financial institutions to establish branches or set up automatic teller machines (ATMs) in Debak town.
According to the Deputy Minister of Community Welfare, the existence of an ATM kiosk here would make it easier for local residents to withdraw money.
“I once again reiterate the call for any bank to open branches and set up ATM machines in Debak,” he said, adding this has been requested for a long time.
He said this when contacted after an Agrobank savings account counter registration programme for as low as RM20 here yesterday.
“I sincerely hope that my request representing tens of thousands of residents will be considered… be it Agrobank, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) or Bank Rakyat to provide service to rural communities.
“I also invited commercial banks that are willing to establish themselves in Debak,” he said.
Razi previously stated that he had submitted the request to various financial institutions considering the distance from Debak to Betong market and the expenses incurred.
