KUCHING: Peladangnita, which focuses on empowering rural farmers and entrepreneurs, held a workshop from March 8 to 10 to assist members with marketing strategies and digitalisation.
With approximately 60,000 members currently, Peladangnita’s workshop aimed to prepare its farmers for entrepreneurship, emphasising the importance of mind transformation and digitisation.
According to chairlady of PeladangNita Negeri cum board member of Pertubuhan Peladang Negeri Sarawak (PPNS), Umang Nangku Jabu, the workshop featured 54 participants who were personally selected from each Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) zone spanning from Sri Gading up until Kalaka.
“Peladangnita’s current workshop focus on digitisation and marketing has helped its members advance, with many already selling their products online and working from home.
“The programme has also given farmers the chance to explore outside of Sarawak and Malaysia,” she explained.
She said this at the certificate presentation ceremony of Bengkel Transformasi Minda ke Arah Pendigitalan Keusahawan untuk PeladangNita Zon Selatan dan Timur, held at Imperial Hotel yesterday.
Umang added that the programme also aimed to assist and prepare the members on mind transformation and helping them to adapt to digitalisation because it is an intimidating task in the business world.
The participants, she said, were now embracing the knowledge they had learned in the workshop as most of them were proficient with using social platforms to promote their products and even accepted payments through apps such as DuitNow and Sarawak Pay.
In a similar development, she added that one of the highlights of the workshop was the announcement that a group of PeladangNita members would be travelling to Singapore on April 24 to 28 under Sarawak Trade and Tourism Co. Pte. Ltd. (STATOS) to showcase their products such as Mee Kolok, Borca chocolate, Kina Karar Agrofarm, Pansuh, and Heritage Rice.
“Peladangnita’s analysis suggests that its farmers have the potential to succeed in the market due to the quality of their products, packaging, and presentation.
“The programme provides rural farmers with opportunities to compete in the business world and promote Sarawakian products,” she said.
Furthermore, she said that with additional support, it was not impossible to bring more participants for future workshops.
