KUCHING: The police and Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) yesterday conducted joint operations to stamp out illegal gambling activities especially illegal 4D
and online gambling where 12 premises were targetted.

The operations were conducted at Kenyalang Commercial Centre, MJC, Hui Sing Garden and Matang areas.

Sarawak Head of CID SAC Denis Leong said the police are launching a concerted effort with SEB to put a stop to illegal gambling activities.

“This is because premises used for these gambling activities continue to operate. With the electricity supply cut off by SEB, we are confident that the illegal activities will be crippled. The police are also
grateful that members of the public are providing information on the illegal activities in their areas. The disconnection of electricity supply by SEB is made under Section 21A (1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act, 1953,” he said.

During the operation, 11 individuals comprising nine females and two males aged between
19 and 32 years were arrested. Cash amounting to
RM893.00 and 10 handphones were seized by the police.
