KUCHING: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) president Lina Soo on Sunday disclosed that seven party members have been officially dismissed from the party with immediate effect.
She told a press conference here that the seven comprised former chairman, George Young Si Record Junior, former deputy chairman, Simon Tiong Ing Tung, Lau Pang Heng, Thomas Kiew Heng Yew, Josephine Lau Kiaw Peng, Loh Wui Ping and Andygie anak Gines.
“They were dismissed because they have acted against party’s constitution mainly by holding an unconstitutional party annual general meeting although there was not enough quorum on Feb 12.
“Even though the AGM was adjourned because of insufficient quorum, this group proceeded with the meeting and even elected a new committee comprising some non members,” Soo said.
“All seven persons were issued with show cause letters in writing on Feb 15 giving them 14 days to explain why their membership should not be terminated, revoked or nullified.
“Our Parti Aspirasi registered address has no record of any reply or response from anyone of them,” she added.
Soo also said the party dismissed the seven after having undertaken due procedural process of terminating party membership under the party’s constitution and with the Society’s Act 1966.
She added that at the party’s 2nd AGM held on Sunday a new committee was elected comprising new chairman, Jane anak Dripin and deputy chairman, Rosli ak Lambeng; secretary general, Hugh Lawrence Genda; assistant sec general, Lamon ak Lambeng; treasurer, Tan Kok Seng; assistant treasurer, Zuraida Jasmine; auditor, Winnie Chua and Information officer, Jileng ak Kion.
