KUCHING: Flood victims in the district who were evacuated to temporary relief centres (PPS) last Saturday have been allowed to return home today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the relief centres at Dewan Sinaran Lumut and the Dewan Kampung Sungai Bedaun were closed at 11am.

A total of 91 individuals from 18 families were allowed to return to their homes after flood waters receded in Kampung Sinaran Lumut and Kampung Sungai Bedaun.

Last Saturday, the victims had to be evacuated to the relief centres after flood waters caused by continuous downpour inundated their homes.

The Dewan Sinaran Lumut PPS accommodated 31 victims from seven families while the Dewan Kampung Sungai Bedaun PPS housed 60 victims from 11 families.

Meanwhile, two other PPS in Betong and Miri remained open to provide shelter for victims of fire incidents.
