KUCHING: The Sarawak government welcomes new initiatives by the relevant ministries on sustainable energy as it is in line with the state’s green energy policy.
The state hopes to be the pioneer state in this area.
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Investment (MINTRED) Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh said the introduction of the Integrated Low Carbon Silicon Based Materials Factory project will have a positive impact on Sarawak as it heads towards the use of green energy.
“This is good for the state. This initiative by the consortium is very much welcomed by Sarawak as we move towards new green energy.
“As we all know, 70 per cent of our energy comes from solar power which is regarded as new energy,” he told the media at BCCK this morning.
Malcolm earlier witnessed the cooperative agreement signing ceremony between Adam Digital Assets Sdn Bhd and Haitai Solar, CMEC and Solar Pulse Sdn Bhd at BCCK today.
He represented Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He believed that with the implementation of new innovations and technology, Sarawak would be seen as the main driver of global warming initiatives to the world in an effort to reduce carbon emissions.
“The Sarawak government and the ministry will also support the effort,” he assured.
