RM100k fund to repair longhouse affected by landslide

TATAU: A total of RM100,000 from the Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund of Kakus assemblyman, Datuk John Sikie Tayai was channelled for landslide repair work at Rumah Junus Lau, Sungai Jelai here.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Sikie made a work visit yesterday to inspect the longhouse that was affected by a landslide a few days ago.

The landslide caused by heavy rain damaged the kitchen of the three doors of the longhouse.

During the survey, Sikie agreed that immediate action must be taken to avoid a worse incident from happening.

Besides that, he also channelled funds of RM20,000 for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Junus Lau, Sungai Jelai to repair the damage at their longhouse.
