KUCHING: Thirty-five residents of Lingga and Sri Aman attended a programme aimed at increasing their digital literacy.
The Community Digitalisation Programme was organised by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) in collaboration with the Lingga District Office and Sri Aman District Council.
According to a press release on Tuesday, it was held at the Digital Community Centre (DCC), which is a platform for addressing current and future needs of Sarawak.
“Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah, highlighted the impact of the digital wave on lifestyle, stating that technology and social media have brought communication networks closer to the fingertips.
“The programme’s aim was to provide participants with guidance and inspiration that could bring renewal and to apply the digital world in their respective communities.
“The programme involved projects that needed to be completed by participants within a three-month period,” it said.
The programme’s practical approach allowed participants to explore the digital world more closely through interaction with facilitators who taught them how to develop knowledge in e-commerce, e-government portal services, and social media promotion.
The Chairman of the AZAM Sarawak Community Development Committee, Norjannah Razali, called on all local communities to support and accept the positive and negative effects in facing the development process in the area.
“The programme will now move to the Dalat and Long Lama communities to improve digital literacy and the initiative highlights the importance of digital readiness in today’s world and its relevance to communities’ lives,” she said.
