The future of farming in Sarawak is rapidly transforming with the integration of smart farming technologies. By 2030, smart farming is expected to become a crucial contributor to the state’s digital economy.

Coolplay Nyipa Aji, an expert in smart farming and a participant of Taman Kekal Pengeluaran Makanan (TKPM), revealed that eight foundational elements are critical to the success of smart farming.

These include the quality of seeds, rumah lindungan, systematic irrigation systems, land type, strategic farming locations, seed selection, and the measurement of seed quality with land and water resources.

Compared to traditional farming, smart farming, utilizing hydroponic systems and IoT drones, offers a range of benefits.

It allows for year-round production and eliminates the fear of weather uncertainty.

As a pioneer in the field and a former engineer, Coolplay invites all farmers to embrace modernization and adopt smart farming as a lucrative business opportunity that provides raw materials to consumers.

The methods also save labor by utilizing technology that can be controlled with ease.
