KUCHING: A 27-year-old man from Jalan Batu Kawa here and two women from the People’s Republic of China both aged 28 were arrested yesterday afternoon for drugs peddling.
If convicted, they could be sentenced to death under Section 39 B of the Dangerous Drug Act, 1952.
Sarawak Narcotic Head Supt Sahar Bin Abdul Latif confirmed that the trio was arrested following a public tip-off received at 6.30 pm on Tuesday.
The police team went to a condominium in BDC near here and arrested the man in a car park. He then led police to a house where the two women were arrested.
The male suspect also brought the police team to a house in Sekama near here where a few packets of drugs were confiscated. The confiscated drugs comprised 233 grams of Ketamine, mixture of ecstasy powder and fruit juices weighing135.7 grams and 64 Erimin 5 tablets weighing 18.1grams. The drugs are estimated to worth RM58,080.
The male suspect was tested positive for drugs but not the two women.
Police also seized a Myvi car worth RM25,000, a gold chain valued RM4,800 and a RM1,200 gold ring.
The three suspects are being remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation under Section 39B, 39A and Section 15 (1) (a) of dangerous Drug Act, 1952.
