MUKAH: Firemen rescued a 57-year-old man after an early morning fire razed his house at Kampung Balingian, here today.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Mukah fire station received a distress call at around 1.53 am.
Nine firefighters were despatched to the scene which was 61 kilometres away.
“Upon arrival, the fire which was already at its height, destroyed three fishing boats, a farmhouse and a non-permanent structured house.
“The firemen used water sourced from a nearby river to put out the fire,” the spokesman added.
The victim, identified as Rahman Rap, escaped injuries.
The firefighters made sure the situation was under control before returning to the fire station.
The operation ended around 3.55 am. The cause of the fire and losses incurred have yet to be ascertained.
