KUCHING: Mosques and suraus in the Gedong state constituency have received donations in the form of cash from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari, who is also the Gedong assemblyman, presented the donations to 10 suraus and two mosques during a break-of-fast occasion at the Al-Kawthar Mosque in Gedong last night (March 25).
Among the recipients were Al-Kawthar Mosque of Kampung Perintah, Darul Iman Mosque of Kampung Gumpey, Nur Addin Surau of Kampung Tengah Gedong, As-Sobirin Surau of Kampung Tengah Lama, Darul Islam Surau of Kampung Tengah Hulu, Nurul Islam Surau of Kampung Segera Jaya Gedong, Darul Madinah Surau of Kampung Kanchong Jaya, As-Syakirin Surau of Kampung Kanchong Baru, At-Muttaqin Surau of Kampung Lot Phase 1, Nurul Hidayah Surau of Kampung Lalang Hilir Gedong, Darul Ibadah Surau of Kampung Lalang Tengah, and At-Taibin Surau of Kampung Lalang Mayak.
Earlier, the premier broke fast with the community from the Gedong constituency at the Al-Kawthar mosque.
Following that, he joined the locals to perform the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers.
Also present were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts and Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) and Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo; Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee; Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris; Gedong assemblyman’s special representative Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais; Samarahan acting resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang; Gedong district officer Abdul Khalid Manap; and Temenggong for Iban community in Samarahan Geoffrey Mamat Kuchai.
About 20 students of Tahfiz An-Nur in Gedong were also in attendance.
