SEBUYAU: Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli, intends to keep raising the issue of dilapidated schools in Sarawak so that they can be restored as soon as possible.
Citing the case of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sebuyau he assured that the issue will be pursued in the Dewan Rakyat.
“For SMK Sebuyau and others, I will not stop talking about the need for construction or repairs that need to be carried out immediately.
“I am doing my best to shoulder the responsibility entrusted to me by the people, especially in matters of education, which is one of the most important foundations for a country’s progress.
“My desire is for rural children to be able to have a conducive and comfortable learning environment, complete with facilities, just like in urban areas,” he said.
He was speaking after handing over a contribution of RM10,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SMK Sebuyau on Monday (April 3).
“I had the opportunity to meet with SMK Sebuyau principal Selamat Mokhsin, who hopes for attention from the Ministry of Education (MoE).
“I tried to put myself in his shoes, but it was difficult. The saying ‘seeing is believing, but carrying the burden is heavier’ (berat mata memandang, berat lagi bahu memikul) is very appropriate.
“However, I explained to him about the efforts that can be made to continue to speak up on behalf of rural children who aspire for better educational facilities,” he said.
