KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy visit from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) Sarawak director Dr Ahmad Taufik Sulaiman.

The inaugural visit at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday (Apr 4) was to introduce himself and discuss Sarawak’s preparations in terms of border control to deal with the expected impact caused by the move of the Indonesian capital to Nusantara.

“I came to discuss with the Premier on matters related to border control, development in the Nusantara and also the state’s preparation in dealing with it,” he said when met after the courtesy visit.

He stated that the Premier also touched on the new carbon storage technology as well as the involvement of the JKDM Sarawak.

Ahmad Taufik who hails from Pahang was appointed Sarawak JKDM director on October 7, 2022.

He has previously worked in Sabah as the deputy director of the State Customs Enforcement Division in 2018.
