KUCHING: Rotary Club of Kuching Central (RCKC) will be conducting a free eye screening and eye care awareness campaign in effort to reduce incidence of preventable blindness, especially among children and elderly folk.
The screening will be held at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Stutong Community Market on 1 April 2017 (Saturday) from 8.00 am to 12 noon. This project is jointly organised by RCKC and the Sarawak General Hospital, supported by MBKS.
RCKC has been actively providing free eye screening for patients for the low income group in both Urban and Rural communities and have been in partnership with the Sarawak General Hospitals’s Klinik 1Malaysia since 2008, and embarked on a preventive blindness campaign.
The first Preventive Blindness Project successfully carried out by RCKC was providing Free Cataract operation in Kapit followed by many more held in the Sarawak General Hospital, Sri Aman, Betong, Serian, Simunjan, Sibu, Daro, Pulau Bruit, Mukah and Lundu.
RCKC will continue working on similar projects and everyone is welcome to contact them if they would like to assist or provide any suggestions towards this good cause.
