SIBU: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) is currently working to restore electricity supply to several areas that have been affected by heavy rains and storms.

The Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Wong Hie Sieng said, SEB has informed him that they are gradually restoring power to the affected areas.

“Most of the high-tension cables have been restored, but they are still working on restoring the lower ones in certain locations. We hope to fully recover the electricity supply by today or tomorrow morning (April 7),” said Wong, who is also the Sibu Resident.

He said that the top priority is to ensure that there are no human casualties.

“Since no casualties have been reported, our main focus is to clear fallen trees from the roads, as they are causing inconvenience to hundreds of people who use them. Today, most of the roads are already clear. SEB has already restored most of the dangerous high-tension power lines, and we believe that they will fully complete the task by tomorrow,” he added.
