ASAJAYA: The federal and state governments remain committed in helping the underprivileged in an effort to improve their socioeconomic status, says Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang.

Rubiah, who is also the Kota Samarahan MP, said among the initiatives provided were through entrepreneurship programmes by various ministries.

She said such initiatives would increase the income of low-income groups through the concept of entrepreneurship through their involvement in various fields.

“The government has also formulated various strategies to increase the earning capacity of the underprivileged in this country,” she said at the Pautan Kasih Parlimen Kota Samarahan programme held here on yesterday (April 10).

The programme was organised by the Kota Samarahan Service Centre in collaboration with the Asajaya District Office.

A total of 245 people received donations in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

Also present were Asajaya District officer Rais Ahmat and community leaders.
