PM meets PH S’wak leaders on unity govt and Madani concept

KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a closed-door meeting with Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak leaders yesterday (Apr 17) to discuss, among others, matters related to the unity government.

PH Sarawak head of information Senator Abun Sui Anyit said leaders reassured the state party’s unwavering support for the federal government.

PH Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, meanwhile, reassured PH Sarawak’s support for Anwar to be he prime minister until the end of the current Parliament’s term.

“He (Anwar) also took note of Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak’s stance, especially at the state government level, which is to be the opposition and the PM respected that stance,” said Abun in a statement posted on his Facebook.

Abun said Anwar is aware of the needs of PH Sarawak and will consider the recommendations presented to him, among which is to provide leave without record to the Dayaks in the peninsula who celebrate Gawai.

“PH Sarawak was asked to continue to help strengthen the unity government while adhering to the Malaysia Madani concept.

“The prime minister also remains committed to ensuring that PH Sarawak contributes to the stability of the unity government,” he said.
