KUCHING: Sarawak’s 60-year transformation period will be showcased during the state’s 60th Independence Day celebration through the presentation of music and fashion symbolising the state’s rich cultural attributes and its unity in diversity.
The event will also be officiated by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib on July 22 at Padang Merdeka here.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will also attend its inauguration.
Sixty contingents will take part in the celebration, including state and federal administrative units, ministries, departments, and statutory bodies.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol chaired a meeting with its committee for the event yesterday (Apr 27).
The meeting at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building was attended by deputy director of Sarawak State Protocol and Public Relations Unit (UPPANS) Hamdan Sharbini.
