MUKAH: In conjunction with the Kaul Mukah Festival 2023, the Mukah Melanau Association, in collaboration with the Sarawak Women’s Association (PPWS) Mukah, will be organising the ‘Isek A Melanau’ competition.
The competition promises to be an exciting event that showcases the culinary skills of the Melanau community in the Mukah district.
The event will be held at the main stage area of the Kaul Mukah 2023 on May 1, starting at 2 pm.

Attractive prizes await the champions. The winner will receive a cash prize of RM500 followed by RM400 for the first runner-up, RM300 for the second runner-up, and consolation prizes of RM100 each. All winners will also receive certificates.
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Melanau Food Set’, which is open to women residing in the Mukah district.
Each group must consist of two participants, and the competition will last for one hour.
All basic ingredients, equipment, and materials required for the competition must be provided by the participants themselves.
The competition is free of charge, and the assessment criteria include taste (50 per cent), decoration/creativity (30 per cent), teamwork (10 per cent), and cleanliness (10 per cent). The judges will evaluate each set based on these criteria.
