KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap made a final inspection before the handing over of remedial assistance projects on two houses under the Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS).
In the first instance Yap together with Penghulu Jakup Buan and Christopher Chaong recently checked on repair works to the roof and walls of a house in Lorong 17, Stampin Resettlement Scheme utilised financial assistance of RM15,000 under PPRMS.
It was completed jointly with volunteers from Persatuan Veteran Tentera Malaysia Negeri Sarawak and JKKK Kampung Stampin.
Yap together with Penghulu Lai Boon Khee, Kapitan Chai Yong Liang and Kapitan Boon Voon Min Chai also made a final inspection of construction of new toilets, installation of septic tanks, and repairs to the roof of another house at Lorong 33B, Stampin Resettlement Scheme under PPRMS.
The work was carried out and completed jointly with volunteers from JKKK Taman BDC and Satria Jaya BDC.
During the official handover, Yap thanked all volunteers who had participated and contributed their time as well as effort towards assisting those who are less fortunate.
He said PPRMS is an assistance programme of up to RM15,000 by the state government to help those who live below the poverty line or come from low-income groups.
“This is one of the main touch points of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government which is always concerned about maintaining the wellbeing and prioritising the welfare of the people,” he said.
He also said he is ready to lend a helping hand to the poor residing in his constituency who require house repair assistance under the PPRMS.
“Those who are eligible and require house repair assistance can always contact my service centre at 082-265513 or 011-31893319 or go directly to the service centre at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching to request for assistance.
“They can also approach the community leaders serving in Kota Sentosa constituency to request assistance,” he added.
