PUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has called on Muslims in the country to show their solidarity for the Palestinians who are still imprisoned without any charge or trial following their struggle to defend their land.

In conveying his condolences on the passing of Palestinian activist Sheikh Khader Adnan, Mohd Na’im in a statement today, said all parties need to condemn the actions of the Israeli regime as a clear signal of the world community rejecting any form of tyranny and persecution.

“It is very sad that Palestinian prisoners are dying in Israeli prisons while the Israeli regime continues to oppress women and children.

“The cruelty and torture on Palestinian prisoners is something that is against the principles of justice and human rights,” he said.

Last Tuesday, the international media reported that Kader Adnan died while in custody in an Israeli prison after going on a hunger strike for 86 days.

Mohd Na’im described the Israeli authorities’ negligence and refusal to provide medical facilities that led to Khader Adnan’s death as inhumane and irresponsible.

“The deceased was reported to have died in an Israeli prison on May 2 after an 86-day hunger strike in protest of Israel’s arbitrary arrest of Palestinians and cruel treatment of detainees,” he said. – BERNAMA
