BINTULU: The practice of visiting each other during festive seasons, including Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is seen as the best way to promote unity and prosperity among the multiracial communities in Sarawak.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming said despite the differences in race and religion, Sarawakians always lived in harmony.
He stressed that it was not only an opportunity to enjoy the many local dishes but also a chance to learn about the culture and beliefs of the diverse communities.
“I hope this becomes a practice, where we visit each other, regardless of our religious and ethnic differences.”
He said this during an Aidilfitri visit with members of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bintulu Branch at the residence of Pemanca Awang Merais Pengiran Ismail on Thursday (May 4).
“Such a practise is essential to promoting unity and harmony, which are crucial for the progress and prosperity of Sarawak for future generations.”
