SERIAN: A fishing competition organised by the Serian Parliamentary Service Centre at Danu Leort of Leort Cottage in Kampung Pichin attracted 161 participants.
The event, which ran from 4 pm to 6 pm yesterday (May 7), offered a first prize cash of RM150, RM100 (2nd place) , and RM50 (3rd place).
Response was encouraging and Serian Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem has decided to hold similar events every month.
The suitable date for June will be announced from time to time on his official Facebook page.
Frankie Jong took first place with his catch of 1.06kg , followed by Nazri in second place with a catch of 0.97kg.
Mathias and Ilod shared the third place with their catches of 0.96kg each.
The fishing competition was held in a festive atmosphere, with participants and spectators enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings.
The event was seen as a good opportunity for fishing enthusiasts to showcase their skills and enjoy some healthy competition.
Riot expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and promised to make the event a regular one in the constituency.
Local fishing enthusiasts in the area are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the date for the upcoming Jom Ngail event in June.
During the event, Riot also served as the master of ceremony(MC). His presence at the event highlighted his commitment to serving the local community and fostering closer ties between the people and him as their elected representative.
