KUCHING: Fourteen humanitarian partners will be honoured at the inaugural Humanitarian Partner Appreciation Day this Saturday (May 13).
Organised by the Malaysian Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the event is to gather organisations that the church has collaborated with in 2022 to carry out several humanitarian projects in Sarawak.
“Partners who will be honoured are some of the well-established names like Rotary Club and Red Crescent Society Malaysia, Cheshire Homes,” it said in a press release.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang will be present as the guest speaker to celebrate the event and to congratulate those present on their humanitarian efforts.
“The event will be held at the church’s meetinghouse at Jalan Seladah and the partners will receive appreciation plagues to recognise their humanitarian service and thank them on behalf of the church for their assistance and cooperation in the past year,” the church said.
The programme will be followed by a high tea reception where those attending will have the chance to mingle and opportunities to do more for the community.
“This is the first time the church has carried out a formal appreciation of its local humanitarian partnerships and it hopes to hold similar events in other parts of Malaysia from next year onwards,” the church said.
For the record, the church and its partners worked on diverse initiatives that support cancer patients, including children, disabled persons and indigenous populations.
In 2022, over 28 jointly organised service projects have benefited more than one million members of the community in Sarawak.
