SERIAN: A local woman should thank her lucky stars for miraculously escaping death after she was shot by a sexagenarian with a shotgun yesterday morning (May 10).
She, however, sustained injuries to her arm and right shoulder in the incident.
Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anis, who confirmed the case, said they were notified of the shooting around 8.10 am at Mile 37, Jalan Kuching-Serian.
“A 67-year-old man had shot the 39-year-old victim, who works at a concrete company.
“The woman was rushed to Serian Hospital for immediate treatment,” he said.
Shortly after the shooting, members of the public made a citizen’s arrest and handed over the suspect to the police.
Police also seized the shotgun used in the shooting.
The motive for the shooting is unclear.
Aswandy said the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, which carries up to 20 years’ jail upon conviction.
