SIBU: The University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) will host a health programme entailed ‘Holistic Health: Start with Family’ on May 20 from 9 am to 3 pm at its campus here.
UTS vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid said the public event is aimed at raising health awareness among family members.
“They include women, children and also family members with special needs. We invite the Sibu Divisional Health Office to open exhibition booths here.
“Participating booths can attract the audience as programmes include general health screening, breast examination, medicine awareness, mental health assessment and blood donation,” he told a press conference here, today.
Khairuddin said the event is one way to draw public attention to health, and the university, which may indirectly assist in promoting the university to the public.
“This collaboration between UTS and Sibu Divisional Health Office will hopefully raise awareness on health as well as create a healthy image for UTS being a university that shows concerns about public health,” he said.
Khairuddin encouraged the public to participate in the programme.
Meanwhile, Sibu Divisional Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun hoped the programme can help more people undergo health screening as well as increase awareness on the importance of staying healthy.
“In Sibu, we have conducted health screening on 10,663 individuals in 2022. For 2023, we have screened a total of 3,055 so far,” he said,
