KUALA LUMPUR: A youth-level consultative council for all parties in the Unity Government will be established to foster cooperation among the existing wings, said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) deputy youth chief Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
Lukanisman, who is also the Deputy Health Minister, said the formation of the consultative council is expected to be implemented after the Unity Government National Convention 2023 which ended yesterday.
“What Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and other party presidents have done will be instilled in the council.
“Because of this, we have formed ‘Geng Perpaduan’ (Unity Group), which is a platform for our movement to feel the similarities in the differences (political parties) and, after this convention, we will call for a meeting,” he told reporters after the Unity Government Pemuda National Convention session at Dewan Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL).
The Sibuti MP said the consultative council was one of the major programmes that GPS will be participating in after five years of it not being together in a large coalition at the national level.
According to him, the presence of GPS is to complete the stability of the government to prevent the government from being plagued with continuous incidents (crises) as happened in the previous administration.
“This (convention) is the best platform for us to jointly look at differences and find similarities with the agenda of #BinaBersama (#BuildingTogether).
“We are resolute about ensuring the government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister with the consultative council of the Unity Government, can stabilise (the country), and go on to yield results in terms of economic improvement, social harmony and bringing benefits to the people,” he said. – BERNAMA
