TO enhance Internet accessibility in the Balingian constituency, a total of 13 new 4G telecommunication towers have been allocated.

Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi disclosed that out of this number, one tower is currently operational, while the remaining 12 towers are in the process of implementation and will be activated gradually by the first quarter of 2024.

He said this during his ministerial winding-up speech in response to concerns raised by Abdul Yakub Arbi (GPS-Balingian) during the DUN sitting on today (May 22).

Acknowledging the issue of telecommunication coverage loss in Daro and Kabong, Julaihi assured that the ministry is aware of the concerns raised by their respective assemblymen.

“In the event of a power outage, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will collaborate with telecommunication companies to ensure that backup power supply systems such as batteries and generators function optimally,” he added.
