Ministers wind up debates on their ministries

FOUR ministers took the podium to wind up debates on their ministries during the seventh day of the state legislative assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.

Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah clarified on points raised on the ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts as well as the ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, two portfolios he holds in the State Cabinet.

During his winding-up speech, Abdul Karim noted there were no disturbances or injections during this DUN sitting following the formation of the Unity Government at the federal administration.

“I am pleased that during this session’s ministerial winding up speeches there were no disturbances. The situation in the august House has changed since the formation of the Unity Government,” he said.

The Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom was next to take the podium, followed by Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian wrapped up the day’s proceedings when replying to points raised on his ministry.

Earlier, deputy speaker Datuk Idris Buang granted leave of absence to Tarat assemblyman Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn and Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

The DUN sitting adjourned at 5:45pm and will resume today (May 24) for the eighth day of the current session.
