KUCHING: State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki has been instructed to intervene and address the recent seizure of RM2.5mil worth of bird’s nest products by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation’s Sibu enforcement unit.
This directive from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was conveyed by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who raised the issue during a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) pre-council meeting.
“Following preliminary discussions, a meeting has been scheduled for June 6 at 3pm in the State Secretary’s office.
“I will lead representatives of the affected traders to the meeting to seek a win-win and amicable solution,” Tiong disclosed in a Facebook post.
The Dudong assemblyman urged the traders’ representatives to prepare all necessary documentation to ensure a smooth progress of the meeting.
Emphasising the importance of reaching a satisfactory conclusion, Tiong stated that this case would serve as a benchmark for future communication between the government and the people.
He called on all enforcement units to effectively communicate with the public, ensuring clarity regarding relevant laws and regulations to maintain public order and prevent unnecessary conflicts or misunderstandings.
Tiong expressed his gratitude to Abang Johari for promptly addressing the matter, highlighting the Sarawak government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the people and swiftly resolving issues.
