KUCHING: St Basil’s Parish Centre here is set to be completed by August next year, aiming to cater to the needs of the community here.

Batu Kawa assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said that the project, regarded as a significant milestone for St Basil’s Church, has garnered support from the state government, which has allocated funds to facilitate its construction.

“This is much anticipated and needed not only for the church but also for the community here and the surrounding areas. We are fortunate to have a state government that is very concerned about the needs of other religions regarding repair and upgrading of houses of worship,” said Dr Sim, representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during the St Basil’s Parish Centre Building Project Laying of Foundation Stone and Blessing Ceremony in Batu Kawa yesterday.

The RM6.2 million project, which commenced in December 2021, aims to provide a multipurpose hall, classrooms, libraries, and other practical amenities. The facility seeks to foster learning, spiritual growth, and community development, with a particular focus on benefiting the Anglican community in the area.
