PUTRAJAYA: The completion of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project is inevitable since RM6 billion has already been invested in it.
Having said this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim added that the government had no alternative but to take over the project previously managed by Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS).
To facilitate this transition, the Finance Ministry (MOF) has established a dedicated special purpose vehicle (SPV) to acquire BNS as a subsidiary under the ministry.
The LCS project will be closely monitored by the Project Monitoring Committee (PMC), co-chaired by the Secretary-General of the Treasury and the Secretary-General of the Defence Ministry, ensuring effective oversight throughout its implementation.
