MATU: The Matu Regatta, which recently showcased its successful event during the Matu Festival this year, is set to be held on an even grander scale in the near future.
Jemoreng assemblyman, Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, announced the upcoming event and expressed confidence in its implementation, citing the successful of the Matu mini-regatta as a motivating factor.
“We conducted a mini-regatta experiment similar to the Kaul Igan festival, and we are immensely grateful for its resounding success,” he said. Juanda also extended his gratitude to the visitors, both local and from afar, for their unwavering support.
“In light of this achievement, I am optimistic that the secretariat will be fully prepared for the second installment of the Matu regatta series in the near future,” he said during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Matu Festival yesterday (June 4).
According to him, the involvement of the local community, along with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government agencies, played a vital role in achieving remarkable success despite the festival’s modest scale.
