KOTA SAMARAHAN: Discussions are ongoing regarding the proposed restructuring of the salary scale for educators in Taman Bimbingan Kanak-Kanak (TABIKA) under the Community Development Department (KEMAS), based on qualifications and experience.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, clarified that the previous announcement pertained only to an increase in the allowance for volunteer community assistants (PPMS) in Tabika KEMAS, from RM500 to RM800.

However, the proposed restructuring of the salary scale for them is still being discussed at present, she said this during a press conference after officiating at the Knowledge Discourse Programme: My Inspirational Women (Program Wacana Ilmu – Wanita Inspirasiku or WINS) at the Summer Shopping Mall today (June 11).

Hence, this matter will be further discussed and elaborated upon with the Public Service Department (PSD) and the Ministry of Finance.

Addressing the issue of rehiring educators, Rubiah mentioned that it would depend on the country’s requirements.

She said that currently, KEMAS focuses on hiring individuals who meet the educational qualifications stated in the guidelines, which stipulate a minimum of a diploma.
