BETONG: The implementation of small infrastructure projects needs to be coordinated by related agencies in place of the Public Works Department.

Deputy Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare Development Mohammad Razi Sitam said the decision to transfer the implementation of small infrastructure projects to other departments or district offices is therefore a reasonable cause of action.

According to him, it not only reduces the burden on the PWD but also allows it to focus on the implementation of large projects.

“A very welcome action to simplify and speed up the implementation of development projects,” he said.

He was commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that the implementation of small infrastructure projects would be entrusted to other agencies instead of the PWD.

“I am confident the district office and other agencies are capable of upholding this trust,” said Razi.

At the same time he emphasised the aspect of integrity so that the quality of small infrastructure projects that will be implemented by other agencies can be comparable to the quality of PWD before.
