KUALA LUMPUR: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin has urged Terengganu to continue to nurture new footballing talent for the country.

He said that the state had proven itself capable of unearthing not only good footballers but also world-class athletes in other sports disciplines.

“Terengganu’s greats include Safawi Rasid and national trek cycling champion Datuk Azizulhasni Awang,” he said, adding that close ties and the spirit of camaraderie were vital to form a great roster of players and teams.

“If not for strong ties, then associations and teams won’t go far. If we are self-centred then only our rivals gain. The principle is that we need to be loyal, especially to our leaders,” he said during a keynote address to the state and district football leadership via FAM’s Facebook post yesterday.

A question and answer session was also held, involving the senior leadership of the Terengganu State Football Association (PBSNT) as well as representatives from PBSNT and district sports associations. – Bernama
