MAKKAH: The current waiting period for Muslims in Malaysia to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage has now reached 148 years, said Tabung Haji executive director Datuk Seri Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman.
These individuals form part of the 3.8 million TH depositors who have registered and are waiting for their turn to fulfil the fifth pillar of Islam.
As per the information available on the TH website, the existing hajj registration system, which follows the “Register First, Prioritized” concept, has been in effect since 1995.
TH adopts an open haj registration system based on the concept of “First Registered, First Served” which has been implemented since 1995.
Malaysia is allocated a haj quota of 31,600 pilgrims from the Government of Saudi Arabia for this 1444 Hijrah Hajj season.
