KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg says that the algae-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced in Sarawak will be utilised in offshore helicopter services.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd and Petronas Dagangan Berhad on May 23 during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition to facilitate this collaboration.
“I am particularly delighted to announce that Sarawak has taken a pioneering step by exploring microalgae as a potential source of renewable energy, and the world’s first SAF produced using algae will be utilised in this collaboration.
“Through this innovation, we will not only drive our economy, but it also represents a significant contribution towards achieving our green economy agenda for 2030,” he said.
Abang Johari expressed his delight at this innovative partnership during the signing ceremony between Hornbill Skyways and Petronas, as well as the technical services agreement between Hornbill Skyways and HAS International Sdn Bhd (HAS) on Thursday (June 15).
In terms of offshore helicopter services for Petronas’ Miri operations, Hornbill Skyways and HAS International are proud to be the first in Asia to operate the Airbus H175.
“As we venture into this new endeavour, it is only befitting to introduce one of the most advanced helicopter models for offshore operations. Hornbill Skyways and HAS International are the first in Asia to operate the super medium twin-engine helicopter for offshore operations.
“The H175 represents a significant lead forward in terms of technology, safety, and efficiency, providing enhanced capabilities and ensuring a higher standard of service for our valued partners,” he said.
